Basseterre, St. Kitts - With less than 24 hours to go before the hosting of the Beaumont Park Soca Monarch competition, the momentum is accelerating in terms of the public’s opinion as to who the winner would be.
A poll conducted by MiyVue.com indicated that King Konris – who released popular soca tune “Unstoppable Force”- leads with a whopping 45 percent of the votes.
Shakki’s ‘High for carnival’ holds the second spot in the voting with 17.5% and Anastasia is third with 13%.
MiyVue.com contacted Konris on Friday 17th December to inform him of his rating in the poll and according to the ‘Unstoppable force’ singer, “It is pleasing to know that I am leading in the polls but I’m expecting a keen competition on the night of the show.”
“I am very encouraged by the response from the public regarding my song and on Saturday 18th December there will be a lot of force. Persons attending the show can expect a great and highly energetic performance,” Konris said.
Competing for the top cash prize of $10,000.00 would be Hotrod singing his hit song “Pork for dinner”, who will take the stage. The appearance order will also see Rico Righteous and Hailey J (2), Eazi (3), Mr World (4), Anastasia (5), X-Man (6), Konris (7), Ras Kelly (8), C-Money and Rucas (9), De Provoker (10), Shakki Star Fire (11), Soca Samuel (12) and Shakel and Fire with appear last, ending the performances.
The alternates are Queen Kibie and T-Bone. In the event any of the named finalists are unable to perform, the alternates – Queen Kibie and T-Bone - would perform.
The judging criteria for the event are as follows: 40 points for performance, 20 for lyrics, 20 points for melody, 10 for creativity, and 10 for crowd response.
Regional soca sensation ‘Patch’ would headline the show with his mega hit, ‘Pipe’.
The show will be held at the Warner Park’s football stadium, now dubbed ‘Sugar Mill’, on Saturday 18th December starting at 8pm.
