GCue is first-ever Music Festival Media Ambassador

CredentialsBasseterre, St. Kitts, 16th June, 2017 - The St. Kitts Music Festival appointed its first Media Ambassador, honouring St. Clair ‘GCue’ Liburd of the ZIZ Morning Show.

In a ceremony held during the ZIZ Morning Show, on Friday, 16th June, a surprise was sprung on the unsuspecting GCue, while he hosted members of the Music Festival during their promotional presentations.

VhCommunications and Marketing CEO, Val Henry, head of Marketing and Public Relations for the St. Kitts Music Festival, hyped the event as he introduced the Music Festival Committee Chairman Faron Lawrence, the General Manager of ZIZ, Viere Galloway, and GCue’s wife into the studio.

At that point Henry announced to the nation and persons overseas that GCue had been appointed a special ambassador.

Henry said, “Today the St. Kitts Music Festival is announcing the appointment of its first-ever Music Festival Media Ambassador, St. Clair ‘GCue’ Liburd of the ZIZ Morning Show!”

Music Festival Chairman Lawrence, in presenting GCue with his credentials, said GCue stood out as exceptional in helping to promote the music of festival artistes over the years.

Lawrence said, “On many occasions when many persons did not know the music of the artistes we were trying, you were the one who came out, played the music, got the public to say, ‘Oh yes. It’s them? I want to see them.’ Without that kind of collaboration, that assistance, we could not have had the kind of bumper crowds we have seen in many of the years.”

Lawrence continued, “I am just happy and delighted that you are the first. Congratulations!”

Each year, Henry explained, other radio DJs will be considered for recognition and the honour of being officially named a Media Ambassador of the St. Kitts Music Festival.

After moments of speechlessness, GCue responded with words of thanks and appreciation for the support and recognition.

He said, “It really feels good to be recognized. I now know that what I do is being recognized. I am glad that you are extending this to others (radio DJs).”

GCue continued, “Like me, I know that others want to feel that recognition too… It is indeed a pleasure to be the first one. Thanks to everyone who came together and sanctioned this initiative.”

The in-studio ceremony was held also on the first Music Festival Day, supported by special sale offerings at some business enterprises, as well as a mini-motorcade in downtown Basseterre.
